Tanya Telford is a British contemporary fine artist and graduate from Winchester School of Art and The Royal College of Art.

Following her academic studies and background in Constructed Textiles, Tanya started to concentrate on producing her own artwork as a fine artist in 2008. Due to a period of illness, she was not able to dedicate time to her practice until 2022. She is now exploring new ideas and mediums, and producing new works as she enters the next stage of her artist career.

Her process takes her from sketch book to artworks which are mainly on paper. She has a particular interest in moments, past, present and future along with the subject of Time.

As part of her artistic practice she uses the flow of expression and the expressive power of fluidity and movement to represent time moving forwards whilst inventing symbols and signs almost as a language to some how represent the past.

When producing artwork, she takes a meditative and kinetic approach, being partly influenced by the time she has spent in Japan and China, looking to their Buddhist cultures and specifically calligraphy artworks.

She reacts intuitively and instinctively as the piece evolves, fusing ideas, feelings and atmosphere. She seeks to produce expressive and optimistic artworks by harnessing the power of sensitivity to represent this.
